I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the purpose of this blog. I think I originally started it just for the sake of having it. It seemed like a good idea at the time. But I wasn’t real sure what to do with it. I wanted it to be business related but it turned out to be a way to write about my personal life so friends and family would know what’s going on. I’m not sure anyone besides my mother and this weirdo actually read it, but I like to think I have a huge fan base out there eagerly awaiting my next meaningless post.
So…. I think I will start making it more business related. I will have short posts related to my businesses, web design and promotional products. After a while I may just create a new blog and have one for updating friends and family and one for business. We’ll have to see how it goes.
If it isn’t obvious to you I’ve changed the look of this site. It was definately time for a change. When I first started using WordPress I found a template I liked and proceeded to hack it up so it would work the way I wanted it to. The benefit of course is that it worked how I wanted, the downside is it prevented me from using other templates without a lot of work. Since WordPress now uses sidebar widgets I was able to create custom sidebar menus that are not template specific, which is how it should be. So I was able to change templates with very minor hacking. So far I like it and I think I will stick with this look for a while. I may change the image along the top though.
Jessica just pointed out to me that I had some problems on my page. I somehow managed to mess up the code so the page displayed wrong in Internet Explorer (Which I never use) but not so bad that it wouldn’t pass validation. The funny thing is I was just bragging about how wonderful my site was to someone last night and gave him the url so he could see how great it is. Since too many people use IE, he probably does too and he probably wasn’t very impressed. I also had some redundant links. Oops. Anyway, it’s all fixed now. How embarrassing
I was so happy to be able to post my SEMA pictures last night after setting up the gallery program but I overlooked the page that displays the full size image. Totally forgot it. I guess that what happens when you work on your website an hour after taking sleeping pills. Anyway, it works now.
I finally got around to adding an image gallery to the site and posted the SEMA show pics. Link is on the menu to the left. Enjoy.
I’ve added galleries to the site. Two so far, Franken Formula and Chopper build pics. I modified a JAlbum template to make it quick and easy to update them. I’ll be adding more soon.
I’m trying out a new blog program I heard about yesterday called Thingamablog. I like it because I can install it on my USB drive, manage it wherever I am and upload the pages. My previous blog program was Moveable Type. I tried to integrate that into my existing website and did a pretty good job, except I never bothered to integrate the archives so it had limited value. Also, it’s free! Moveable Type is not free (Free as in freedom, not free beer). You got to love free software. I certainly do.
